The last treatment option for joint diseases is total replacement. Standard joint prosthesis work very well in most situations, but temporomandibular joints are known for their anatomical variability both in shape and size.

Proper treatment with standard prosthesis require a large and expensive set of different condylar and glenoyd fossa shapes and sizes, and sometimes is difficult to fit the patient anatomy. Combination of CT-SCAN virtual modelling and CAD-CAM technology allow designing customized and accurate prosthesis. Instead of adapting the patient anatomy to fit the prosthesis, the prostesis itself fits the patient anatomy. This workshop is focused in a comprehensive and practical step by step training in the indications, design and surgical procedure for the Biomet microfixaton custom TMJ prosthesis system.
